The truth is I wanted to share my experience that i had the other night, watching a movie. Thinking i am crazy? well its your wish to delete the mail, but i am going to continue anyway

The Movie is 1986 BlockBuster TopGun…. True to its name it was a great movie, absolute pleasure to watch.
Though i saw the movie in parts earlier, i have never seen it fully until this day. Sometimes everything works out perfectly to churn out a Blockbuster, this was a perfect example. As if Gods have seen it from top and blessed everyone who worked for the film & in the film, to give their best out of them.
I was really astonished by the film, the way it was made, the aerial photography, the emotions in the film, and TOMCRUISE. Its eternity to watch him in this movie. Through out the movie i was shouting with joy. It has right mix of everything, love, agony, destiny, losing your beloved, finding ( reinventing) yourself again, fun, thrills, character, Team effort, Heroism, Flirting, everything you can name it, it has it.

Tomcruise Nickname is Maverick in the movie… so dont confuse if i call sometimes Maverick and sometimes Tomcruise, its one and the same….

Movie starts of somewhere in the Indian ocean where two Fighter plains are given a mission to safely get the cargo to board. one is flied by “Cougar” who is the 1st best and the other by “Maverick (Tom cruise)” who is the “wingman” to the Cougar. A wingman is one who is like a backup for a plain. So these 2 plains will be attacked by 3 MIGs in the international waters. And one of them gets a Missile Lock on the Cougar Plain. Maverick puts a missile lock on that plane and frightens him away, and one more plain he makes a upside turn and “GOOSE” who is flying along with Maverick take a photograph, devastated by that 2nd and 3rd MIG also retreat to their land. But Cougar loose his nerves and wont be able to bring back the plain to base. Maverick instead of being low on fuel gets back to Cougar and asks him to hold on to his wing and gets him back to base. Cougar retires saying “he has lost his edge”. Now without Cougar our boys Maverick and Goose are in the top position and gets a chance to go to the TOP GUN institute in Miranmar which trains the Best of the Best pilots from around the world.

So the story starts along with the thrust. I am pretty much less patient, I know you people will also be bored if i narrate entire story over here. Just go and watch yourself and enjoy it.
There are many scenes that are lovable, infact every scene is as good as the previous one.

To list out the best scenes from the movie

The introduction scene in Indian ocean with Cougar and Maverick.

The scene where Maverick comes on bike to Miranmar… along side the Plane.

The introductory class in TOPGUN institute where instructor asks who wants to get their name on the Board as the best pilot of the TOPGUN, Tom Cruise answers Me. Then instructor bashes up cruise saying that ” Thats pretty arrogant leutanant considering having best pilots around the world in this class”. Maverick replies for that saying ” Yes” . Then the instructor says ” I like that in a pilot “.

The scene in the bar, where Tom cruise Sings “You have lost that lovin’ feeling ” for the heroine and the immediate scene where he flirts her again in the toilet saying i just want to help you not to make a mistake ending up with a old guy. Heroine asks then you want me to do a greater one ending up with an younger guy like you? Maverick says May be… she then leaves

The next day morning scene where she returns as The Instructor to his class. and the Tom says I kind of get right away whatever i want.

Then the first training session where Tom and Goose pass the test and fly over a Tower causing panic, and breaking two major rules of the institute.

The Competition and Rivalry between Iceman ( Val Kilmer, Batman Forever fame) and Maverick. The dialogues where Iceman says to Maverick ” i know about you, you want to work alone” and the other scene where he says ” you are dangerous to yourself “.

The scene of exam, where heroine gives Tomcruise a date at her house.
The next scene of the Volleyball, coolest scene.

The next scene where Tom rides away from the volleyball game finding he is late for his date. The scenes at the Heroines home, where he says I want to take a shower.

The scene in the elevator where heroine says ” I want your help in my research, but i wanted to tell you that i wont usually invite my students to my house “

The scene in the Class where Heroine gives a Presentation, which Says ” Maverick has taken a risk and done a foolish thing in the training session other day” The Best scene i like…. Maverick just see towards her seriously and after the class he gets on to his bike, heroine comes and tries to explain him, he rises his accelarator saying what i cant hear you… and drives off… heroine follows him in his car and explains him that Her presentation about him was correct but she has hidden one more thing in the class which she thinks Maverick has done an extraordinary thing, but she hasnt told that in class because she doesnt want others to know that She is FALLING for Him.

The scene where Goose comes and tells Maverick that i know what you want to do everytime we go into sky but i am afraid, then Maverick says to Goose you are my only family, i wont let you down.

The scene where Goose’s wife comes to town with his kid, (Meg Ryan played that role) and the next scene where Maverick and Heroine Goes on bike and she says kiss me and take me to bed.

The Fighting scene where Maverick gets struck in Jet Air and loose his control and Goose dies. ( Twist in the story )

The scenes that follow the passaway of Goose, Tom cruise acted superbly… The pain that he cant escape feeling that he is responsible for Goose’s death… The scene where he quits the TopGun and heroine comes to visit him and help him, One more best scene… She quits from that place.

The scene where Tomcruise visits his Main Instructors house on sunday, where he comes to know about how his father died..

The next scene of day of graduation in TopGun where Tom cruise returns to complete his graduation. ICEMAN gets the Best pilot award at TopGun.

The climax fight scene where Iceman gets surrounded by the Enemy MIGs in the Air and the TomCruise gets him out from there…. awesome aerial photography and action…

The scene after the fight where Tom cruise says he wants to be a instructor at TopGun when his commander tells him he can be placed anywhere he wants.

The final scene in the BAR Again where heroine plays “You have lost that lovin’ feeling song”
for Tomcruise and says to him ” I was told that the Best of the Best come back here “

So thats it… while writing this mail, i have gone thru the same feeling which i had while i watched this movie…

Wait…………. UNTIL NOW I HAVE NOT TALKED ABOUT A GREATEST THING IN THE MOVIE……… THE BACKGROUND SCORE AND THE SONGS……. WITHOUT THEM THE MOVIE WOULD BE A LIFELESS………….

THE BACKGROUND MUSIC AND THE SONG ” TAKE MY BREATH AWAY ” IS MINDBLOWING……………….. I WOULD NEVER FORGET THIS SONG ANYWAYS…

Here i see one more movie yesterday night..

Name:- The Shawshank Redemption

Cast:- Tim Robbins, Morgan Freeman..and others whom i dont know very particulary..

Well, this movie is a total different experience from TopGun.. it doesnt start and move at the pace of the earlier one though. Its a genre in its own, its different, unique, enthralling, packed with surprise at the end, makes you feel bad and good at times, makes you think how doom life can be, how you get institutionalized to somethings, brings hope, tells you hope is a dangerous thing and then changes your opinion telling hope is a good thing..

There are movies which we see for timepass, some for getting entertained, some for the thrills they offer, and some movies like this one… they fall apart from all the categories above mentioned, they just stay in our mind for quite sometime, making us think about it even after THEEND has rolled out.

Personally i like sci-fi, action, thrills, comedy, love and romantic movies… even though this one doesnt have a Jamesbond or Tomcruise to keep you glued, it has something else to offer… its swift screenplay, direction, story telling and performances. There are different ways of narrating a story, sometimes you know before hand whats going to happen with the characters we see but we just sit there to see how director is going to shot those scenes, for eg:- M.I 2, and other action movies…

And there are someother directors who follow a totally different way of narrating, some like Night Shyamalan and yes the director of this movie Mr. Frank Darabont who gave the screenplay also for this. These guys would say to you they are going to open their fist, show you and tell what all is their inside it and make you believe they have opened their fist and just when you feel you have known everything, then you will realize that they have never opened their fist actually and there is an entirely different thing inside than what you expected.. Then it will be your turn to be surprised and stay spellbound. Well, thats the way they work. And then i have to speak about the Story Writer Stephen KING, now i havent read any of his novel works till date, but still have immense respect towards this fellow who is acclaimed worldwide by one and all. No one can doubt his talent, his imagination and interpretation of the things, of the world, his knowledge.. Now once again in this movie you can see his story coming to life and dragging you into a world called as ” SHAWSHANK “.

Coming to the movie, it starts with the trial of Andy ( Tim Robbins) who is convicted for the murder of his wife and her lover and when proved to be guilty he is sentenced to spend in prison two lifetimes one each for the life he has taken. Now the guy pleads he is not guilty but then taken to ” SHAWSHANK ” prison along with someother fellows. Here Enters the other hero of the movie ” Morgan Freeman ” called Red in the movie. THE ENTIRE NARRATION BY THE MORGAN FREEMAN THRU OUT THE LENGTH OF THE MOVIE IS AWESOME…. HE HAS MAGIC IN HIS TONE, IN HIS VOICE.. SO MUCH SO THAT EVEN AFTER THE MOVIE IS COMPLETED, YOU STILL WANT TO HEAR TO HIM…

The new arrivals to the prison are called as new fish.. and the old ones in the jail put a bet among themselves about “who is going to break down the first night in the prison, who is going to cry among the new fish ? ” and the winner gets the ciggaretes from others. The Red ( Morgan Freeman) is a Guy who can get you anything in the prison. And ANDY on whom Red bets that he is going to cry , wont make a sound that night and so ends the first night of ANDY in the Shawshank, and starts a journey which will come to end only by HOPE.

Its tough to narrate entire story here, coz it has so much of life, and i would need to re-utter each and every dialogue to make you understand the story. so i would suggest you to go and watch it on your own. It lives upto the expectations.. I heard the name of the movie before from so many people (some from T.V actors saying this is their fav movie ) and i thought it would be some TOOOO much of ART story kind of stuff and would be rather boring to me… But it surprises me tooo…

It starts from the starting (pun intended ) like an ART movie and continues to be the same and gives you impression at times ( Such as when the old fellow BURKS commit suicide ) that it is a lousy, same stereo type ART movie which is made only to Grab the attention of oscars or golden globe jury members and which is going to end in a very pathetic way to win all those awards…

But ..But there lies the twist.. when the 3 quarters of the movie is finished, then you will start partying.. start laughing, jumping e.t.c as the twist in the movie appears before you… ANd i am not going to say that point also, there by reducing the pleasure you get when you see the twist in the tale on your own.

All i can say now is this one is very very very good movie which i would recommend everyone i know to watch it… and i will assure you will end up seeing it twice..

All i can say about it is its JUST CINEMATIC ART AT PERFECTION… or Art of cinema at its best.

There are many things that i should tell you.. like Red giving the evaluation of himself before a bunch of people, for every 10 years during his stay in the jail, and each time he tries to make them believe he is ready to enter the society and completely rehabilitated… they reject his application… and at the end of 40 years when he attends his last evaluation.. he says ” rehabilitation is just a word “.

And there are moments of torture and shame also in this movie… and may be Women or Girls who are orthodox ( or should i rather say institutionalized Like in the movie ) might feel uncomfortable by seeing the things that go in the first half of the movie , things that happen to ANDY during his first 2 years in the prison….. Hmmm What happens is he will be tortured physically, sexually by a group of 4 fellows, who rape him or beat him continuously.. and this may be hard to the Women who i mentioned above to digest… Yes ANDY our hero will be raped by men in the prison.. though it will stop after sometime when ANDY revolts once and the jailer Beats up the leader of the people who has raped ANDY to pig.

Then for a movie which is so beautiful except for the scenes i mentioned above… you will definitely want to sit thru those scenes, coz the ones that follow are absolutely Mindblowing.

So thats it guys from me for now… meet you all with one more cinematic experience sometime later.
